3.1 Splitting and Joining Text Splitting allows you to break down a paragraph into two new paragraphs. Place the insertion point directly before the beginning of the sentence you would like as the opening sentence of a new paragraph and press ENTER. Doing this will move the sentence to a new line, thereby forming a new paragraph. Joining text allows you to merge two consecutive paragraphs into one.
