1.1 Enter Text Entering text in a Word document is the first step in creating a text-based document. Click anywhere in the blank space within a Word document. A flickering cursor symbol will appear. Whenever you see this symbol you can begin typing. Word will record the text based on the input from the keyboard. Word will automatically capitalise the first letter of the first word in a sentence.
